Vuosaari, Helsinki’s largest district, has seen its architecture and urban planning evolve with each passing decade. This walking tour explores Vuosaari through the lens of the 1970s. While the area is often viewed as a typical 1960s forest suburb, it also features intriguing examples of 1970s architecture and reflects changing ideals in urban design. This tour focused on suburban themes also asks: how are the societal shifts of the 1970s still present in the built environment—and how do they resonate today?
